Abstract

Nowadays it is becoming increasingly important for scientific institutions (including universities) and their researchers to make their scientific achievement visible on networks. It was one of the phenomena having launched the open access movement (as first, in the natural sciences). Open access philosophy focused on the free availability of research articles and studies. In the background, however, there is a crisis of subscription to journals: subscription fees have increased to such an extent that it is extremely difficult for universities, research institutions and libraries to guarantee the funds required for subscriptions. As a next step, free repositories were set up, following the development of the EPrints software.
