RFID in libraries
Abstract
The article describes the basic functions of library RFID systems, including labels, write/read systems, RFID middleware and the most common standards in the field. Library procedures which can be implemented by RFID (identifying documents, drawing up an inventory, doing self-service loan and return, as well as protecting the assets of the library) are discussed in detail, so are the pros and cons of relevant solutions. The author focuses on the use of HF and UHF RFID systems, and makes recommendations on how to build out a well-functioning library RFID system.
