Subject and characteristics of scientific information

Abstract

The present article is a contribution to the discussion on the notion and scope of the discipline dealing with the theory and practice of scientific, technical and economic information in the journal Aktualne Problemy Informacji i Dokumentacji (Warszawa). The author analyses the term „scientific information" by presenting definitions found in the literature of the subject. He characterizes the main elements of scientific information, both as a practical activity and as a new scientific discipline.
